Surcharges DPD

Below are listed the surcharges that may apply to your shipment. Please keep in mind that the carrier may change rates and conditions for surcharges. We will do our utmost to inform you as well as possible, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee accuracy and completeness. Therefore, no rights can be derived from our information on surcharges. For insight into surcharge rates, please refer to the DPD website.

Note: The extra costs incurred by the carrier are calculated afterwards. For this reason, surcharges are invoiced later.

Weight adjustment

Additional charges will be applied for packages that deviate disproportionately from the weight entered by the sender during the transportation process as determined by subsequent weighings. This applies to packages that are weighed higher. The packages are weighed and measured by the carrier using calibrated equipment, and this applies to the highest chargeable weight, which may be the actual or the volumetric weight.

Fuel surcharge

The shipping rates presented on Parcel International's platform are included fuel surcharge.

A surcharge is applied when:

  • The package weighs more than 20kg.
  • The longest side of the package is longer than 130cm.
  • The package, measured diagonally, is longer than 130cm
  • The package has an outer packaging made of wood and/or metal.
  • The package has an unstable and/or irregular shape.
  • No or poorly readable label on the package.
  • The correct packaging guidelines have not been followed.
DPD also reserves the right to charge additional handling fees for any package that it considers to require special treatment.

Oversize and overweight

A surcharge is applied when:

  • The package has a length longer than 175cm.
  • The package weighs more than 31.5kg.
  • The package has a girth larger than 300cm.

Remote area

Surcharge for delivering and collecting in remote areas. Remote areas include islands, mountainous areas or a postal code area or village that is difficult to reach.

Surcharge for tires

A shipment containing tires, but not packaged in cardboard, will be repacked into proper packaging by the carrier. A surcharge will be charged for this action. The surcharge applies to shipments to Finland, Norway, and Denmark.

Customs services

Shipments that require customs handling are subject to import duties and VAT. These costs are not included in the rates presented by Parcel International. The import duties and VAT are determined based on the contents and value of your shipment. Additionally, DPD applies a surcharge for customs handling in a number of countries.

Toll surcharges are charged by DPD as a percentage of the shipping price per package.

Capacity Surcharge

A peak surcharge is applied to maintain operational continuity during busy months. This surcharge helps offset the increased costs associated with higher demand and ensures that services can be consistently provided. It is a common practice in industries such as transportation and logistics.'
