Surcharges UPS

Below are listed the surcharges that may apply to your shipment. Please keep in mind that the carrier may change rates and conditions for surcharges. We will do our utmost to inform you as well as possible, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee accuracy and completeness. Therefore, no rights can be derived from our information on surcharges. For insight into surcharge rates, please refer to the UPS website.

Note: The extra costs incurred by the carrier are calculated afterwards. For this reason, surcharges are invoiced later.

Weight adjustment

Additional charges will be applied for packages that deviate disproportionately from the weight entered by the sender during the transportation process as determined by subsequent weighings. This applies to packages that are weighed higher. The packages are weighed and measured by the carrier using calibrated equipment, and this applies to the highest chargeable weight, which may be the actual or the volumetric weight.

Fuel surcharge

The shipping rates presented on Parcel International's platform are included fuel surcharge.

Demand surcharges

A peak surcharge is charged to maintain operational continuity during busy months. For more information about this surcharge, please navigate to UPS website.

Handling

A surcharge will be applied when:

  • The package is heavier than 32kg.
  • The longest side of the package is longer than 100cm.
  • The second longest side is longer than 76cm.
  • The package has an outer packaging of wood and/or metal.
  • The package has an unstable and/or irregular shape.
  • The proper packaging guidelines have not been met.
  • UPS also reserves the right to charge additional handling fees for any package that needs special handling.

Over Maximum Limits

An additional charge is applied when:

  • The package has a length longer than 274cm.
  • The package weighs more than 70kg.
  • The package has a length and size greater than 400cm (a Large Package surcharge is also applied).

Large Package surcharge

A package is considered a "large package" if its length and girth are greater than 300cm but do not exceed the maximum of 400cm. The minimum billable weight for large packages is automatically adjusted to 40kg.

Residential Delivery Service

A surcharge is charged when delivery takes place at a residential address. The surcharge also applies to businesses that are operated from a residential address.

Address correction

A surcharge is applied when the carrier has to determine the correct address to deliver the shipment.

Extended area

A surcharge is applied for deliveries and pickups in extended, as well as urban, areas that are difficult to access.

Remote area

A surcharge is applied for delivering and picking up in remote areas. Remote areas include islands, mountainous areas or a postal code area or village that is difficult to reach.

Customs services

Shipments that require customs handling are subject to import duties and VAT. These costs are not included in the rates shown by Parcel International. The import duties and VAT are determined based on the contents and value of your shipment.

When UPS has to make an advanced payment for the costs for the declaration of goods, a disbursement fee will be charged in addition to VAT and import duties.
